They finished the day by delivering the rest of the donations to various places in town, then Laurel packed up her car with the things she was taking back to the cabin. She would need to make a second trip to meet with the small moving company she contracted to deliver the several pieces of furniture and the rest of the boxes to the cabin. They were scheduled to come the following week.

The next day they cleaned the house, and Habitat for Humanity came to pick up the furniture she was donating.

Laurel walked from room to room, pausing in each doorway. As she came back into the living room, Tim held open his arms and she walked into one of his huge hugs.

“You did it, kiddo. I know this is so hard, but you’ve just checked off a huge task.”

“Thanks Tim, for everything. I’m not sure how I would have done this without you.”

“Absolutely, no problem. I’m glad my schedule allowed me to get back and help you.”

“Me too. So, you’re off again next Monday, right?”

“Yes, a quick trip this time. I was thinking I would come to the lake when I’m here for a few weeks. I’d love to see your studio and have a little R and R. Would that work for you?”

“Of course it will work.”

Many hugs later, they said goodbye and Tim drove away. Laurel locked up the house and, with one last, deep breath, got in her car. As she drove home, she thought about all she had accomplished this weekend and how thankful she was that Tim was there. It would have been much more difficult without his words of encouragement and his comforting hugs.

She was looking forward to getting home—and to seeing Aiden. Had he been thinking about her as much as she’d been thinking about him?
